After a year and a half spent online, the questions "Is online education as good as face-to-face education" continue to be asked by everyone. As an institution that has had the online system for years, we would like to answer your "Why Online Education" question!
Global Online Education
When we look at institutions abroad, you will see that many schools prefer online education, including the field of visual arts. Even universities have started to invest in online seminars and trainings apart from their own education. Education is universal and every institution wants to grow its target audience. Therefore, online education is actually a very common phenomenon. Thanks to the online system, it is a great blessing to be able to access trainings all over the world in an up-to-date manner.
The words pre-pandemic and post-pandemic have officially entered our lives. I think it is very important to use these terms because we would be doing an injustice to online education, which is one of the greatest blessings of the internet age. Before the pandemic, online training was also available in Turkey. One of the rare good things that the pandemic has brought has been to reconcile people with the internet. As Anima School, we switched to the online system in 2018, and the process accelerated during the pandemic process. Online education is actually not scary at all, what really scares you is the unknown of stepping into a new world. We can divide online training into two as live and video. If the live trainings are processed and recorded through platforms such as Zoom, they can have unlimited viewing. There are also institutions and services that provide video training services. In both ways, you have the chance to watch the training you have acquired over and over again. In fact, thanks to online training, you take a big step to improve yourself by keeping up with the times.
Scientists explain that things that don't matter to you don't stay in your memory for long. Learning the facts that are important to you is easier as attention and care is given. In short, those who want to learn can learn through face-to-face education or online education. The most important point here is "want". When we look at the visual arts in general, it is always a work of the heart. In other words, there are people who love and admire their work, and we can see many people who turn to the field of visual arts to complete their incompleteness, even if their lives are on different routes. That's why wanting is so important in this area. Anything is possible after you want it!
Practice, Practice and Again Practice!
Of course, there is an extra effort brought by face-to-face education, even this effort is an important factor in learning processes. But instead of wasting this effort on the road, you can focus on the lesson and learning. If you miss the subject in face-to-face training, you start looking for the lecture notes. Repetition is very important in the field of visual arts, of course, we don't just say it in terms of course repetitions. Doing your works and techniques over and over is a big step to bring you to perfection. Constant practice and coming up with something new will take you a few steps ahead. Online Education at Anima School
As mentioned above, we at Anima School love online education! Anima School was established to realize the lack of qualified personnel in the sector and to close this gap. One of our top priorities is to make up for the lack of personnel in areas such as animation, modeling or visual effects, and to produce creative and beautiful works. As a school, we could only accept students from Istanbul. However, with online education, we have lifted our borders by accepting students from all over Turkey and even from abroad for the last few years. We wanted to have some salt in the soup in order for the visual arts field to develop and exceed its limits in Turkey, and we continue to move forward in this direction.
Our online trainings are always live. During the lesson, the class gathers via Zoom, our instructor shares her/his screen and starts the lecture. In the interactive lessons, students can ask the instructor anything on their minds. The homework system is one of the things we care about the most. In this way, students come to the lessons prepared, create their portfolios and make up for their deficiencies. These also take them a few steps ahead when stepping into the sector. We do not disrupt interactivity outside of class hours through online platforms such as Google Classroom. The fact that our education is lively and that we do not leave our students alone under any circumstances are just a few of the features that distinguish us from other educational institutions.
In the closure we experienced due to the pandemic, we had to turn our face-to-face trainings into an online system. We made 55% of the October 2020 graduates who had to continue with online education have a job. If you really want to learn, it doesn't matter whether it's online or face-to-face.
