Paramount Studio's Love And Monster combines action, drama, romance and comedy genres.
"We wanted the creatures to be at least semi-recognizable, with lots of research going into the big details like insects and diseases," says Matt Sloan, who served as visual effects supervisor. The biggest challenge was seeing most of the creatures in daylight because there was nowhere to hide or jump, Sloan says.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the movie follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, Sully (Felicity Jones) and their astronaut friends who prevent them from returning to Earth, where a mysterious global catastrophe has occurred. The film is based on Lily Brooks-Dalton's acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight.
Over 1,400 visual effects were produced on the film under the supervision of Matt Kasmir and Christopher Lawrence, and by studios Framestore, ILM, One of Us, ILM, Instinctual VFX and Nviz.
Disney's 1998 animated movie Mulan reunited with the audience on the big screen last year. When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one person from each family should serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honorable warrior, steps in to take her ailing father's place.
Sean Faden, who oversaw 2043 visual effects shooting for the film, worked with Weta Digital, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Image Engine and Framestore on the project.
Disney's "The One and Only Ivan" movie about a very special gorilla presents an unforgettable story about the beauty of friendship, the power of visualization and the importance of the place they call home. Half of the movie was made entirely in a computer-aided environment.
Visual Effects Supervisor Nick Davis, who was responsible for 1005 visual effects shots, said of the project: "One of the hardest things to tackle was the level of human identity we would give these animals. Balancing a delicate thread between being photorealistic, human, character and personality while being extremely close to the animals. We put a lot of time, effort and care into it."
Fighting for the survival of the world, a hero journeys through the twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold beyond real time. Tenet, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, is among the most talked about films of this year.
