Lego has teamed up with Unity for a free Micro Game Project so you or your kids can design your custom game world without writing a single line of code.
The 'microgame' project allows you to create miniature levels by putting together pre-made virtual Lego bricks that will teach you the basics of Unity in a fun and accessible environment. Thanks to the new project, you can create a game ready to play in 3D in a short time.
You don't need to pay a fee for the "Micro Game" project and you don't need to know about video game programming. To get started, download and install the Unity tutorial, download the Lego Microgame project from the 'Learn' tab and review the tutorials provided. After designing your game to your liking, you can control the minifigures in your created virtual world.
With creative modes in Unity, you can add features like building an enemy, customizing menus, and creating minifigures as adventurers, pirates, or pizza boys. On the project they're working on with BrickLink, you can further customize it by importing pre-built sets in Studio. Add-ons such as Space Cadet and Danger Zone are also available, which you can unlock by sharing your game, updating your game, or participating in game development events.
According to the statements made, they stated that for some of the existing tasks, they "make game development more accessible and reduce barriers for new users", thus making learning easier for beginners.
If you want to create game designs in Lego or experiment with the Unity game engine, the "Lego Microgame" project will meet your expectations.
