Onward

Two elf brothers embark on a quest to bring their father back for a day.

Disney and Pixar's movie follows two young elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary adventure to discover if there's still a little bit of magic. The movie was directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae, the man behind Monsters University.

Dan Sclanlon, the film's director, said: "The story is inspired by my own relationship with my brother and our connection with our father, who passed away when he was about a year old. That was the starting point. We've all lost someone and it would be a very exciting opportunity if we could spend one more day with them. What would you ask, what do you wanted to know and what would you like them to learn about you? We even talked for a while that your big brother character could be a scientist and build a machine to bring my father back. But we went into the magic pretty quickly because it seemed more romantic and more emotional."

Over the Moon

This space travel adventure begins in China's Wuzen Water Town. A young girl named Fei Fei helps her family by working at the moon bakery while grappling with the death of her mother. She also works hard to hide her feelings about her father's remarriage plans. Finding an escape in the stories her mother told as a child, Fei Fei is mocked by her family for her long-standing belief and love for the Moon Goddess, but this does not deter her, waiting to be reunited with her lost love on the moon.

Directed by Glen Keane, Oscar-winning director of Beloved Basketball and legendary Disney animator known for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Tangled films, Over the Moon was shot by Peilin Chou and Gennie Rim at Shanghai-based Pearl Studio.

Glen Keane said, “I've never worked on a film that I'm more proud of, more beautiful, or more subtle in its animated performances. The songs are wonderful, emotional, funny and cheerful. There are so many great things about this movie, and I trust people will see it the way I see it.”

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

Aardman Animations' popular 2015 stop-motion comedy adventure Shaun the Sheep Movie continues with A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon! The movie follows Shaun and his Mossy Bottom Farm friends as they try to help Lu-La, the lovable and strong purple extraterrestrial, find his lost spaceship and return to his home planet safely.

Richard Phelan, one of the film's directors, said, "When we decided to make a sci-fi film from the very beginning, we knew it was going to be comprehensive. We go to space and visit other planets. We had big goals. It was our first film as a director and although we knew Shaun the Sheep's world very well, we definitely wanted it to feel different. And we wanted it to build on what the first movie did.”

Soul

A middle school music teacher with a chance to play at the city's best jazz club, with one small misstep, finds himself from the streets of New York in a fantastical place where new souls acquire their personalities, quirks and interests before they leave the world.

The legendary Pete Docter, known for his two-time Oscar-winning films such as Monsters, Inc., Up, and Inside Out, and Dana Murray and co-directed by Kemp Powers, deals with complex issues touching upon religion, culture and race. Soul is also Pixar's first film with a black lead.

Soul recently showed itself by winning 7 awards at the Annie Awards distributed by the International Animated Film Society.

Wolfwalkers

A young hunter and his father travel to Ireland to help destroy the last pack of wolves. But everything changes when he befriends a free-spirited girl from a mysterious tribe who is said to turn into wolves at night.

Film; The Secret of Kells is the latest 2D animated feature film from Irish Cartoon Saloon, the studio behind Oscar-nominated films like Song of the Sea and The Breadwinner. The movie, directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart and co-produced by Cartoon Saloon and Apple, left its mark on the night by winning 5 awards at the Annie Awards.

"2D is closer to the language of dreams. It's also closer to the language of symbols. We can see cave paintings from 30,000 years ago. These paintings are magical because they are stylized and represent a way of communication that has evolved throughout its history," says Moore.

In the category of Best Animated Short at the Oscars, Burrow, Genius Loci, If Anything Happens I Love You, Opera, Yes-People movies are included.
